Councillor Li Preti has always valued the involvement of seniors in the life of the city. He initiated a counseling group for seniors at 35 Shoreham Drive and at Arleta Manor to assist in preventing alcohol and drug abuse, and to address the issues of loneliness and isolation.

He also, in response to the growing senior population, opened a drop-in-centre at the Yorkgate Mall and a seniors' centre within John Booth Arena . The Councillor was also instrumental in building the very first indoor bocce courts. Recreation and leisure activities for seniors, along with encouraging their involvement and participation in community life and decision-making, has always been a high priority for Councillor Li Preti.
