 The Councillor's name is very familiar to soccer enthusiasts in the northwest corner of Toronto. He was elected President of the Canadian National Soccer League as well as President of the Toronto Rockets. He has given leadership and support to both professional and amateur leagues, and has worked with great effort to improve and create playing fields, encouraging interest, participation and good sportsmanship. The presentation of soccer scholarships to students who have demonstrated leadership and ability has nurtured keen interest and desire on the part of many. Li Preti seeks to promote excellence and skills development by awarding sports scholarships through local schools.
Li Preti continues to serve as an executive member of the Canadian Professional Soccer League, and as chairman of venues throughout the year. Consistent with his enthusiastic support of community sports programs, Councillor Li Preti strongly emphasizes the need for people of all ages to stay healthy in body and mind through active participation. To this end, he encourages the provision of venues which will enhance an energetic lifestyle.
